We thought it would be fun to explore astrology and horoscopes and see if we can apply some of the generalities to our dates.

The practice of astrology has been around for centuries and some of the revelations are downright frightening!
Even if you don’t believe, to categorize people into types, as does Myers Briggs (16 types within four pairs of dichotomies), you have to wonder if at some point in our illustrious and often clouded history, if someone didn’t come up with a similar system for determining personalities, and simply called it - horoscopes.

It is said that horoscopes and astronomy (the Greek word for “Science of the Stars”) originated from ancient Greece some 3000+ years ago and were later re-popularized by ancient Egyptians. There are enough astrological iterations and interpretations to make your head spin! Let’s get right into it and skip the history lesson though. Now for the fun part!

There are 12 horoscopes in the astrological calendar and everyone on the planet falls into one of those descriptions. We also happen to be born within the specified dates that each astrological sign represents – SPOOKY!

Following are the basic horoscope descriptions for each astrological sign that could give you some insight into your date!

If anything, it makes for some interesting conversation.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are socially conscious people that give importance to order and finding one’s place within the social network. They are excessive perfectionists and have a strong work ethic and are excellent organizers. They tend to be egomaniacs and lean toward the materialistic side. They do not like being pressured, like to keep things simple, yet are elitists.

In love, they are completely loyal and offer unconditional love. They have an amazing sense of humor which tends to be a little on the dry side.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
The water Bearer walks his own path. An original thinker that enjoys being different from other, Aquarians tend to be positive, liberal, and high energy. Boredom is a killer for Aquarians and so they like to keep active with constant stimulation. Many Aquarians seem to live in their own world with their own rules. They like arguments and debates as a form of mental stimulation and very much enjoy a good verbal joust. They are very creative and imaginative and act like they are experts in many fields even though they might not know that much about the subject.

In love, they tend to focus all their attention on one person and seem to be on an elevated plane when in love. They are very friendly and sincere and they enter into relationships giving the best of themselves to their partner. However, they love their freedom so to keep and Aquarius, you have to be prepared to let them have a life outside the relationship.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
A kind, caring, and sensitive sign, Pisceans tend to be selfless and unworldly. They are imaginative people who can often be escapists and idealistic. They can also be weak-willed and easily lead which could lead to alcohol and drug abuse because of the inability to cope with the realities of the everyday world.

As partners, they are devoted and loyal and are faithful to their families and loved ones. They love being popular and enjoy a wide variety of friends.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
A distinct leader, the adventure-loving Aries can be hot tempered. Aries are known to have a life of good health and amazing energy but tend to burn-out when trying to accomplish too much within small amounts of time. They are adventurers and can be impatient for action.

They are usually loyal and steadfast when domesticated and love home-life and family. Aries are fiercely loyal and their hot temper can be misconstrued in love.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The methodical Taurus is more practical and observant than any other sign. They do not exude pizzazz but have the ability to plan a successful life in business and at home. Even though they are cool and even tempered, the Taurus becomes extremely potent when provoked or under imminent threat.

They are traditional lovers and tend to stick with the tried and true. They love creature comforts and are good steady providers for their family.

Gemini (May 21 - June 21)
The “twins” are conversationalists. If you ever date one, you’ll notice they are in constant contact by phone, IM, email, and of course in person. They have a thirst for knowledge and gain information by asking a lot of questions and reading and learning from a variety of sources.

Gemini’s don’t tend to live in the motional realm even though they love to discuss emotional matters. They seem very romantic but have a habit of taking themselves out of love very quickly. They have an “evil twin” and can be moody and discouraged but are also lively and energetic and have a witty sense of humor. The idea of love seems to be more appealing than the reality of it. They love change and variety and are have great people skills. However, the Gemini lacks focus and spreads their energy thin leaving things unfinished.

Cancer (June 22 - July 22)
Those born under this sign can often be found to be shy and withdrawn to boisterous and outgoing. They are generally the sign of family life. They can be thin skinned and sensitive which is why home life is so important to them where they can go to get away from the world and snuggle into their comfort zone.

In love they are very romantic and nurturing and can be sympathetic and caring for the less fortunate.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Leo’s are natural born leaders who tend to take center stage whether be a class clown of arbiter. They are charismatic and have a fiery personality and are magnanimous, broad-minded, and expansive. They can be pompous at times as well and have been known to be bullying, snobbish, and bossy. Not caring much for doing anything safely, Leos have a flair for showmanship and drama.

In love they tend to be warm-hearted and loving but are also inclined to have a fascination with love affairs, both legal and illicit. They also like children.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
The often critical yet hard-working Virgo has sensibility and no-nonsense attitude that usually makes them become successful. Although they tens to be hesitant to take matters into their own hands and require supervision.

In love they tend to be a little overbearing, constantly trying to improve upon the other person’s ways of doing things. They constantly try to go father in relationships often leading to self-disparaging behavior.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
This charming sign is at ends with everything as they often find beauty in it all. They sit on opposite ends of the fence yet on the same side. They are extremely diplomatic and will generally tell you what you want to hear as to make you like them. They are said the be the most beautiful and artistic of the signs. They are often accused of being lazy and indecisive. They also tend to avoid unsavory situations postponing decisions as long as possible. They tend to make great mediators are they weigh in all the pros and cons.

In love they lean toward being equally givers and takers and often become attacted to the opposite sex quite easily. They are a sociable person generally having a large group of friends playing good host. It is important to Libra’s that the people around them are comfortable and happy.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Motivated, penetrating, and aware are the Scorpions. Their emotions tend to run deep even if they hide them. They tend to be passionate which leads them into commanding positions of service. Scorpios dislike secrecy which makes it almost impossible to hide things from them.

They are very sexually driven and can be devoted and caring lovers. A born traveler, they love exploring new and interesting places. This sign is not to be taken lightly. When they want to find out about something or someone, they are unstoppable. Their determination makes them quickly bounce back from setbacks and they pretty much see the world in black and white with not much interpretation left for the middle.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
With a love for philosophy and religion, these truth-seekers are deeply committed to the discovery and meaning of life. They are clear thinkers and have an uncanny ability seeing the big picture. Set in their convictions, they become argumentative when their views are challenged as they invest a lot of thought into their beliefs. They can have sharp tongues and become impulsively ornery. Sometimes they seem selfish and hypocritical especially when it comes to recognition.

Sagittarians enjoy exploring new areas of thought and their outlook on life stays positive even through adversity. They are honest, trustworthy, and faithful and usually root for the underdog. In love, they are very direct and completely faithful as they are usually in control of their sexual urges. However, they may become promiscuous of they feel they have been deceived by members of the opposite sex.
